| A Rugby World Cup winner in 2007, Butch James retired from Test rugby early in 2012, more than 10 years after making his Springbok debut against France way back in 2001. He featured in a total of 42 Tests. A strong and physical flyhalf who played for the Sharks, Bath in England and the Golden Lions before returning to Durban in 2013, James is good at attacking the gain line and protecting his channel with a robust and aggressive defensive approach. He is also equally adept as an inside centre.
